Executive Chef Michael Mazzei created a “Mixed,” Mediterranean-focused, fusion menu to match the feel of the restaurant. When dining at Misto, you will be treated to the finest and freshest ingredients sourced from around the world, combined with a unique and innovative style. Chef Michael Mazzei’s journey began as a young boy in Brewster, NY. He delighted his family by authentically replicating the recipes of his Italian ancestors and then crafting his own palate-pleasing creations.
Chef Mazzei’s undeniable talent and sincere interest in cooking naturally led him to pursue formal training at the Culinary Institute of America and internationally at the Medici Castle in Castioli di Asti, Piemonte.
After completing his formal education, Chef Mazzei’s passion for food continued to take him all over the map. At each destination, Chef Mazzei gleaned treasured culinary pearls of wisdom. At the luxurious South Seas Plantation in Captiva Island, just outside of Naples, Florida, Chef Mazzei learned the art of Tapas. He perfected the art of Northern Italian cuisine at the Michelin Star restaurant, Ristorante Macalle, in Momo, Novara, and he mastered the complexities of French Cuisine working under a New York Times 4-Star rated, Top Chef in Connecticut.
As his career progressed, Michael helped to build up some of the finest and most well-known restaurants in Westchester County, managed catering facilities, and became the Executive Chef of Westchester County Airport’s Five Star restaurant.
Most recently, Chef Mazzei teamed with the esteemed chefs at Villa Barone Hilltop Manor which is considered to be one of the finest catering facilities and wedding halls in Westchester County.
It is with great enthusiasm that Michael partners with his brother, Anthony, and dear friend, Jamal to serve as Head Chef of Misto Restaurant and Bar. A culmination of his life’s work, Chef Mazzei’s menu mixes classic with cutting-edge, regional with international, and familiar with new.
